4 Tips for Planning a Kid's Birthday Party on Zoom

Celebrating your child's birthday is an important way to make them feel special. Even if your family tradition or your child's ideal birthday party isn't possible this year, there are ways to celebrate virtually. As a family operated, women-owned business, at Green Goo, we know the value in celebrations that gather the whole family! Check out our tips for planning your child's birthday party on Zoom.

Goodie Bags

Every kid loves goodie bags. Consider ordering fun toys and seasonal essentials to create unique goodie bags with your child. Although your child's friends may not be able to celebrate in person, dropping off goodie bags can add to your child's special day. We suggest tucking a mini bottle of hand sanitizer into the bags, if your child's friends are old enough. Check out this website for other goodie bag ideas. Our little ones LOVE slime

Plan Activities

If it's age-appropriate, plan a scavenger hunt that your child's friends or family members can participate in online. Provide each guest with a list of items to find (outside or inside) and give everyone a set amount of time to complete the hunt. The guests can either collect items or check off boxes to show that they saw the item. Here is an idea for an indoor scavenger hunt list. Looking for other fun activities? Don't Forget the Cake

Some traditions are too important to miss out on. It may not be possible to serve cake to everyone in person, but consider including a cupcake in each of the goodie bags so the kids can all enjoy cake "together". Send your favorite cake recipe to your guests for a fun cake-decorating contest! You can easily use Zoom to have your child's friends sing them happy birthday before blowing out their candles.

Try Trivia

If your child is too old for a scavenger hunt, organize a game of trivia for their friends to play over Zoom. Depending on your child's interests, you can find movie clips for them to guess the film or even song clips for them to finish the lyrics. Guess the song can be a great option if your child loves music! Points are a fun way to turn the game into a competition. Gift cards are an easy and fun way to hand out prizes and keep it digital. Here’s some more ideas we’d love to share!

Share your screen and play your favorite trivia game with the whole family. We’ve been playing a lot of online chess against each other.
