Frequently Asked Questions

Is a salve similar to a lotion?

Salves are distinctly different than lotions which tend to be either water or alcohol based where a salve is oil based. Lotions tend to feel good at first, but they dry your skin over time due to their high water or alcohol content which are drying when used topically. You may ask yourself, “How is water drying? People are made up of mostly water!”

Yes, people are made primarily of water. While water is good for us internally, it isn’t necessarily what our skin craves. Water is often one of the first ingredients in skincare products – which actually means the high concentration of it dilutes the active ingredients. When you apply water based products to your skin, the water evaporates and takes your skin’s natural oils along with it. This contributes to dryness and moisture loss!

Salves are simple yet effective because they are based in organic oils, herbs, beeswax and essential oils. The oil absorbs and penetrates directly into your skin while the medicinal and moisturizing qualities of the salve are maximized. Viola!

How do I use a salve?

Simple! They are very concentrated so a little goes a long way. Use a pea-sized amount for a small to medium area and rub it in. It will absorb nicely without leaving an oily residue. Add a little more, if needed, for larger areas. With regular use, you will see and feel the benefits on your skin!

What type of medicinal properties do your products have?

Our salves have many different medicinal properties – based on what the product is and the symptoms that are being targeted. Every blend contains a mixture of special organic herbs, oils and ingredients that focus on relieving symptoms and repairing the skin. For example, our Dry Skin salve contains six healing herbs to combat dry, itchy skin: Calendula, Chamomile, Red Clover, Elder, Yarrow and Violet flowers. Conversely, our First Aid salve contains ingredients that calm, soothe, relieve itching and provide anti-bacterial support to wounds: Plantain, Chickweed, Yarrow, Sage, Calendula, Chaparral, St. John’s Wort, Comfrey Leaf and Myrrh. These healing herbs along with organic oils, essential oils, and beeswax provide an amazing mixture perfect for all your skincare needs!

What is the shelf life of your products?

Our products have a shelf life of 3 years. When you see a date on a product, you can feel confident that the product is fresh and good for 3 years beyond that date. Of course, most customers tell us that they love our products so much – that they don’t last 3 years!

Does Natural mean Sensitivity Free?

Our products are all natural with no petroleum, parabens, phthalates, or other artificial ingredients. However, each person's skin has different sensitivities. Some people have allergies and others might have sensitivities to natural ingredients.   As you may already know, allergies and sensitivities can develop at different stages of life. When using our products, if a rash or discoloration occurs, please stop using the product and seek advice from your doctor.

We disclose all of our ingredients. Just like those with peanut or other allergies, reading labels is important. Please don't use our product if you are sensitive or allergic to one of our ingredients.

Why does my Bugs Be Gone spray look like it is a different color in the top of the bottle versus the bottom?

You just need to shake it! Our Bugs Be Gone has both Yarrow and Sage herbs which are infused into witch hazel and then combined with a potent blend of essential oils. Natural settling of these ingredients occurs when the product has been sitting. Nothing is wrong with the product – it just needs to be given a good shake before application, for optimum results.

I’ve never used natural deodorant before… do I apply it the same way?

You are going to love using natural deodorant – and feel great about not applying aluminum or other harmful ingredients to your underarms! The only thing you need to know about our deodorant is that it is best applied after warming a little from your natural body heat. Remove the cap, twist up a small amount of the deodorant, and place it in your armpit for a moment. Apply a few swipes and you are good to go!

Help - My deodorant is melting!

Our deodorant is made with Organic Coconut oil for its amazing properties. It is antibacterial, anti-yeast, anti-fungal and most importantly, natural! The melting point of Coconut oil is 76 degrees, so in hot summer weather, or left in a hot area, you may experience a little melt. It is still effective in its softened state – which can be reversed by placing it in the refrigerator for a few minutes. No worries – it is still effective!

I am anxious to try a natural lubricant but what is the difference between one that is water-based versus oil based?

Great question! We offer both options, so customers can choose what is best for them. Both provide an amazing glide while nourishing delicate tissues. Our Bliss-On is water based and mimics and replenishes the body’s own natural lubrication. Its formula inhibits bacterial growth and is safe for condoms and toys. Our Intimate Body Butter is Coconut oil based to nourish and moisturize the skin while increasing sensitivity. It is anti-microbial and anti-yeast and great for sensual massage, as a body butter, and for postnatal care.

I heard that Vaseline is the best thing for tattoo care – is that correct?

You will hear from friends, family and tattoo artists what they believe is the best way to care for your tattoo. It may be based on opinion or experience – but we want you to know that natural is best! Our Tattoo Care not only soothes the pain and inflammation associated with freshly inked skin – but it helps fight infection, scabbing and fading. It doesn’t clog pores or allow chemicals to penetrate your skin like Neosporin, Vaseline, or other petroleum-based products. This moisture rich salve is not only great for care after getting your tattoo – but it keeps your ink looking bright and colorful long after!

Your bath salts seem to be a little more expensive than others I have seen. Why?

Our bath salts are very high quality and they cost more because they are better! They are harvested from the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Evaporated by the sun and ocean air, this all-natural sea salt has a lovely trace mineral content that produces a beautiful, high quality bath salt. These minerals are therapeutic and help relax sore, tense muscles, replenish lost minerals, and are good for the body. We use 100% pure essential oils – no perfumes, fragrances, fillers, or bad stuff. They are Gluten free, cruelty-free, and Vegan. Additionally, we use ground up organic herbs in our bath salts for added medicinal benefits… no one else does that! We want you to love and enjoy our bath salts – give them a try!
